[Muster of the County of Warwick], [1660 Oct 24 and 25].

Manuscript on paper, in a single hand, of copies of documents pertaining to the Warwick militia in 1660. Includes a "coppy of an order sent by the deputy Leiutennants to the severall gentlement of the County to summon them to send in their hose and Armes to the Muster at Warwick," which asks recipients to bring "one able and sufficient horse, and man Armed, with Pott, Breast, and Backpeece, Carbine, Sword, and Pistolls." This piece is followed by a record of the muster results, listing "the names of the tragned souldyers" and the number of muskets and pikes in each town. Other charts record monies charged for horse and arms moneys charged for "foot-armes," and pay for foot-soldiers. The manuscript concludes with a series of letters regarding "the disturbance wee have had at London." A copy of "His Majesties Instructions Dated the 22 Jan 1660" describes the "late Barbarous, bloudy, and rebellious attempts, of such wicked persons in the Citty of London" and commands James Compton, Earl of Northampton to "bee very watchfull of the Publique peace, and to observe the motions, and meetings of dangerous persons, And not onely to disarm, but forthwith to apprehend, serve and imprison such leading persons, as you have good ground to support, opposite to his Majesties Government and may have influence on Multitudes." Tipped in is an ALS from Northampton dated 1660 Jan 12.
